This popular ghat on the banks of River Ganges in Haridwar is considered one of the most sacred Hindu sites. It is believed to have been visited by Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu during the Vedic period. Constructed by King Vikramaditya in memory of his brother, Bhartrihari, it is considered to be the exact place where the holy river Ganges descends from the mountains into the plains.
